Everyone, or least everyone I know, likes the look given by a flickering candle in the living room.  It's warm comfortable and homely and gives a nice feeling when you're sitting and relaxing in the evening.  Fortunately, these days you don't have to use real candles with real flames and in so many ways that's a very good thing, particularly when you consider the safety aspects of a real candle.

Apart from the smoke that is given off by burning candle is also a risk of fire and if you have children in the house you will probably know how easily drawn their to anything that is bright and shiny, like a flame.  Most good parents would not want to take the chance of their children hurting themselves so an alternative to a real candle is a welcome addition.

For that reason LED candle lights are now available and used extensively throughout the world where people want the look and feel of a real candle without the inherent inconvenience, disadvantage and danger.  Of course, with modern technology the quality you can expect of such LED candle lights is now second to none and they make the house look homely and elegant and inviting.  In fact several colours are now available so that you can have plain white or a soft glow which will match your decor.  If you think about the home decor trends that are hot right now, led candle lights are definitely one of them.

It goes without saying that the most modern types of LED candle look like the real thing.

There are even battery-operated models so there is no problem with having to find a power socket, and one advantage of the battery rechargeable models is that you can move them from place to place, or even take them with you if you're going on a holiday or a visit to someone's home, for example.  On a dark winter night the site of a warm flickering glow is very pleasant to behold.

There's no difference really between the two models, other than the obvious one of colour.  If you want to make sure you get an Actifry that matches your kitchen, you'll want to spend a moment working out whether the black model or the white one suits your decor best.

But it's not easy, is it? Some things are already laden with fat or oil before you open the packet, but other things just cook better with oil.  Take chips, for instance.

Have you ever tried to cook chips dry?  Sure, you can get certain oven chips that don't need oil to cook, but they've already been partially cooked using oil by the food producers.  Not quite the same thing as oil free, is it?

But have you ever tried to cook chips just using a small amount of oil?  Well the deep fat fryer we used to use took a lot of filling up so the thought of using a small spoonful of oil was a complete joke.  Yet Tefal have made it possible.

Their rotating cooker uses literally a small spoonful of oil to cook up to 1 kilogram of potatoes.  That's a lot of chips, for anyone.  Enough, in fact, to feed an average family.  Chips that are not covered in oil are every bit as delicious as the kind that come out of the average family deep fat fryer.  In fact many people would say they're tastier.  I'm not sure I'd go that far, but I can say that they taste as good, to me.

You need some fat in your diet just to stay healthy, so totally fat free cooking isn't really that good an idea, but keeping a tight lid on how much oil you use - and end up eating - is an even better idea.  With the Tefal Actifry that small spoonful of oil and 1 kilogram of potatoes ends up giving you chips with about 3% fat.  You can't argue with numbers like that!

The Tefal Actifry can also be used for cooking sausages, bacon and the like, and the same kinds of comment apply with those foods too.  They don't end up dripping with fat.  The recipe book that comes with the fryer suggests you can make a lot more exciting and exotic foods using the fryer, but frankly chips, sausages, eggs, bacon and the like are about all we use it for!

if you've never seen the Casio lighting keyboard then you won't realise just how revolutionary it is in helping people to learn how to play.  The keys that you have to play for a particular tune light up in the sequence you have to play them.  That means that even if you have never read a line of music in your life you can start playing something fairly quickly and you can also practice one hand at a time to get used to the piace before you put both hands together to play "properly".  My nephew was given a Casio lighting keyboard for Christmas a few years ago and he has now taught himself to play several tunes on that and then graduated to learning "proper" piano with a music teacher and in fact has earned money from it, playing in some pubs and clubs.
